City of Salem brought in a 2026 Ford F-450 Super Duty for a heavy-duty municipal upfit built to handle streets, signs, tools, and jobsite support. Pacific Truck Colors outfitted the truck with a Knapheide Value-Master X steel platform and a full package of storage, crane, lighting, and traffic control equipment.
The build starts with a Knapheide PVMXT-105 steel flatbed with a treadplate surface, painted black and protected with Patriot spray liner for added durability and grip. We added a Knapheide tapered bulkhead, hinged drop side, frame extensions, lowered the bed height with 2x2x1/4 tubing, and installed a 21K platform hitch with 7-way RV trailer plug so the truck can tow and work in the field without wasting time.
For organization and utility, the truck received multiple ProTech steel underbody boxes, a ProTech gravel box, and a large ProTech above-body toolbox with drawer units. That setup gives City crews secure storage for tools, sign stands, pipe holders, breaker bars, cones, and water casks—everything a public works team needs to stay organized and ready.
We also mounted a Liftmoore 39379 crane, a Wanco variable message board, ECCO work lights, amber beacons, backup alarm, backup camera, and a Xantrex inverter tied into the auxiliary battery system. This kind of equipment gives the city a truck that can lift, display, warn, light, and support roadside work safely and efficiently.
